Farmer / Landowner Deer Advisory Support Service

In the event that deer are causing damage to your crops or property, the Irish Deer Society is here to help. Through the Deer Advisory Support Service, farmers and landowners can request expert advice and assistance in managing local deer populations. The Society can offer guidance on best practices and, if requested, will endeavour to connect you with local, experienced and qualified deer stalkers who are best placed to provide consistent management of deer.

All referred stalkers hold, at minimum, a Hunter Competence Assessment Programme certificate (HCAP) or a Deer Stalking Certificate 1 (DSC1), with some holding the British Deer Society’s Deer Management qualification. This support is designed to help protect your land while promoting sustainable and ethical wildlife practices.

Access to your land for a stalker to manage deer is entirely at the discretion of the registered landowner.

Every request is handled in strict confidence and with complete discretion. The Irish Deer Society is committed to working alongside farmers to address deer-related challenges in a practical and respectful way.
